1983 Cascade 36
36' Cascade 36 '83 "Columbia Transit"
The Cascade sailboats were built by Yacht Constructors of Portland Oregon as kit boats. The hulls and decks are extremely solid and strong. The buyers completed the boats to suit their own needs and talents so the finished vessels vary considerably in arrangement, equipment and finish quality. COLUMBIA TRANSIT is one of the finest ever built with the best of materials, equipment, and finish. The owners have sailed her as a couple to Alaska, Mexico and Hawaii so she is a well-proven veteran of long distance open ocean passages.
Her present condition is an example of constant maintenance, attention to detail and cleanliness. She is being sold with all the equipment you need to just step aboard, load provisions and depart. This includes everything from dishes in the cupboards, to repair parts and spares for almost any situation.
Health is the reason for the sale. Selling now sends the boat along to a new owner without a big list of maintenance projects needed before taking off on that dreamed-of next adventure.

Stepping down the teak stairs into the interior of the boat, all cabinetry and bulkheads are tongue and groove teak with rounded corners, fiddles, and white laminate headliner with teak trim. The teak sole has removable boards to access the bilge.
Forward is an easily accessible chain locker, and oversized vee berth with cabinets, lights and a shelf on each side. A hanging locker on the port side, a cushioned seat with mechanicals and storage below it, and another closet with several shelves on the starboard side provide ample storage for clothes. A clothes hamper is underneath the vee berth.
The main salon includes a diesel heater with a shelf above on the starboard side as well as a large locker for linens and clothes. Opposite that is a head with shower and sink. A raised dinette on the port side includes a dining table with a built-in storage area for charts and navigation supplies. Above the dinette is a bookshelf. Three drawers underneath the dinette provide more storage. Opposite the dinette on the starboard side is a settee with large storage areas underneath each seat cushion and more storage behind the back cushions. More storage forward of the settee can accommodate large cruising guides, a ham radio and other electronics.
Moving aft, the galley is on the port side with storage in upper cabinets, beneath the deep double sink, and wine glass and cup holders. A large space for garbage and recycling is left of the sink. Four drawers hold utensils and cooking supplies. A gimballed propane stove with 4 burners and an oven has a stainless steel surround. Pots and pans storage is below the stove and a large cabinet aft of the stove holds a dozen boxes for food storage. Opposite the galley is a large refrigerator and freezer with a removable top for cleaning and loading. Another bookshelf is above the refrigerator. Above that area is navigation and communications electronics accessible from the cockpit.
Aft of the refrigerator on the starboard side is a quarter berth, with the electrical panel above.
