50' Beneteau Oceanis 500 '88 "Sweptaway"
SWEPTAWAY is a large affordable cruising vessel. She just returned from a 2 year cruise in the Sea of Cortez, and has been prepared to go on another cruise. She is well equipped with cruising gear and comfort amenities. This boat is easily handled by two, and has accommodations that can carry up to eight or nine. She is a shoal draft to allow access to thin water and is a sturdy vessel that can handle open water with style.
Before departing Ventura she underwent an extensive refit including new through-hulls and valves, bottom paint, engine removal and replacement of all major salt water components to include engine driven raw water pump, heat exchanger, hoses, and gaskets, new motor mounts, inspection and protective coating to under-engine keel bolts, updated software to Raymarine radar and navigation, new solar panel controller, etc.
In addition, Waypoint Racing of San Diego installed a new state of the art B&G autopilot, mast top wind instrument, through hull depth and boat speed indicator, 7" VULCAN Touch Screen Navigation, Boat Systems, and Sailing Point display. The data backbone was installed with extra expansion ports to easily allow a B&G Digital Radar dome if desired. The hard wired autopilot at the helm and the remote worn on a tether make course corrections instantaneous. The TRITON display in the cockpit easily toggles between sailing data, depth, speed, compass, etc. The entire system works seamlessly and easily connects to an iPad and iPhone for remote monitoring of all data anywhere in the boat at anytime.
While visiting PV last summer, Ullman sails took both sets of sails to their locker and repaired and refurbished all six sails as required. All are in very good condition and ready to take you wherever you want to go. Crossing from Bahia Ventana to Mazatlán we saw 9-10 knots under sail on a consistent basis. She is fast.
Most recently, in San Diego, the fuel system underwent a complete fuel polish and filter service.
With 150 gallons of clean diesel, an ultra dependable Perkins industrial diesel engine that burns 1.3 gallons and hour at cruise, six great sails, and 220 gallons of fresh water, SWEPTAWAY is ready to go. For the price, you won't find a more comfortable, well equipped yacht that is ready to go the distance.
Custom stainless steel dive platform that folds down into the water with additional fold down step to facilitate exiting the water.
