41' Dehler 41 '98 "Buenos Aires"

The Dehler 41 CR may be called a true cruiser racer. Design duo Judel Vrolijk drew this beautiful boat with elegant slim lines and a low silhouette. Characteristic of the yard is that many ingenious techniques are applied. Example is the system by which the trim lines are led to the cockpit beautifully belowdecks. The deck is very accessible and equipped with non-slip TBS. The sail wardrobe consists of Dacron sails of good quality. Under sail the boat is very simple to operate using the electric winches in the cockpit, and the self-tacking jib on the foredeck. The interior is beautiful and has a nautical appearance with cherry combined with blue upholstery. Remarkable is the long kitchen with all modern conveniences including 3-burner stove with oven, and fridge freezer. The table can accommodate a large party. In the bow is a double cabin with private toilet. The rear cabins are generously sized so that even tall people can sleep well. All in all, this Dehler 41 CR is a very enjoyable sailing yacht with excellent sailing characteristics.

The forward stateroom has a generous V berth, two hanging lockers, lockers above the berths, and an ensuite head with shower. Working aft, the settee is to starboard and the generous galley, including microwave, is to port. Galley features an abundance of storage cupboards/draws The nav station with folding seat is aft to starboard and the aft head is opposite. There are two aft staterooms with double berths, each with a hanging locker. All cabin windows have curtains.

The Dehler 41 CR hull is made using a manual lamination process (no spray laminate) supervised under German Lloyd. Lamination includes hydrolysis proof polyester resin, glass silk mats, roving fabrics, balsa wood core and Kevlar fabrics. Supporting bulkheads are joined to the hull and deck. Integral longitudinal and transverse reinforcements are made of GRP laminated in aluminum and galvanized steel.

Sandwich construction with end grain balsawood to provide strength and insulation. Aluminum reinforcements laminated in for all fittings. The deck and hull are laminated while still in the mold to create a homogeneous structure. Hull is protected externally by an aluminum /rubber guard rail. The ample anchor locker is self-draining and then the forward deck storage locker is watertight. Under the helmsman’s seat is a purpose-built life raft compartment. The stern contains a roomy bathing/boarder platform.

Special features many with German engineering

• The anchor shank retracts into the bow and operated by a hidden and protected anchor winch. The anchor winch is operable from the helm

• The non-overlapping jib is on a self-tacker, when reefed there is a forward self tacking track to so the lead can always be correct.

• The Leisure Furl in-boom furler is THE best mainsail stowage system and allows battens for better sail shape.

• The hatch boards slide down in place, so no need to store separately.

• All lines lead back to sheet stoppers in the cockpit and electric powered winches. The entire boat can be handled from behind the wheel.

• Cockpit allows for closed aft end, or open up the walkway to the swim step

Additional Information

This is a two-owner boat. It was ordered and imported by the past CEO of Boats.com. He was a very knowledgeable boater and could have purchased any boat he wanted. The reasons he chose the 41cr was its innovative design features, such as the unique anchor system, the removable bowsprit, cabin entrance with no wash boards or doors, built in raft locker and was a great sailing boat. It also has a self-tacking jib, 2 speed electric winches and in-boom furling so short-handed sailing was a breeze or taking out friends that do not know how to sail. Dehler was known for the quality of construction and materials. The boat was sailed in San Francisco bay. It was never chartered or raced. It was day sailed mostly with family and friends.

The second owner bought her in 2014 with the total engine hours at about 500. The reason for the purchase was the same as the first owner. Quality boat, easy to sail short-handed, great sailing boat, and well maintained. 

The owner has been serviced the boat regularly and maintained at a high level. The boat was day sailed and the furthest we went was Monterey. The engine hours are now less than 625 (Very light use). Reefing is so easy with the in-boom furling and usually do so at about 18-20 knots. The owner had planned keep the boat well into retirement but has recently purchased a catamaran on the east coast. All miscellaneous items on the boat are included in the sale.
