Co-Founder of Yachtfinders/Windseakers and President since 1982. Ron departed from his native country of South Africa in 1967 on a 35' gaff-rigged wooden cruising sailboat. After two years of extensive cruising (the old-fashioned way - with no electronics and no engine) in the Atlantic, Caribbean and Pacific Oceans, He landed in Hawaii where he spent the next several years racing sailboats while attending the University of Hawaii. Ron has a US Coast Guard 100-ton captain’s license with sail and towing endorsements, He has done coastal deliveries in both power and sail boats and is comfortable operating all types of vessels up to 75-feet. Other boating venues have included San Francisco Bay and Delta area, Lake Tahoe, Southern California and Mexico. Ron recently sold his Olson 40 sailboat and is experiencing being boatless for the first time in over 25 years. “A unique experience that I am sure will not be long-lived,“ says Ron. E-mail Ron
has been working and sailing professionally for 20 years. Growing up in Australia, his love for boating transformed into a career in the yachting industry. Three Transpacs and countless ocean racing miles later, he has joined the Yachtfinders team to build on the many relationships he has forged. Andrew has worked on everything from mega-yachts to sailing dinghies, and still can’t figure out what he likes best. E-mail Andrew
Steve has had an interest in boating for as long as he can remember, having owned his first boat at the age of 11. Boats he's owned include monohulls, catamarans and power boats. Steve started with Yachtfinders in May of 2002 and comes from an excellent background in the areas of business, marketing and sales coupled with five years of brokerage yacht sales and a long list of satisfied customers. YF/WS is the lucky recipient of his cheery manner and big laugh! E-mail Steve
Clark was exposed to sailing by his parents in San Francisco Bay before he could walk. As a young boy he raced dinghies and crewed on race boats at California Yacht Club in the junior sailing program. He moved inland for a number of years to live and work in Yosemite National Park and attend College in Fresno. Clark continued sailing and racing boats on California lakes, as well as owning and operating marine businesses including a marina and commercial tour boat operation. The purchase of an Olson 40 brought Clark to San Diego. The boat is outfitted to cruise along the Pacific Coast and enter an occasional race. Upon arriving in San Diego he began managing and racing sailboats at local clubs as well as competing in distance races. Clark joined Yachtfinders/Windseakers to be a part of a winning team! Shawn grew up in New England and enjoyed boating on lakes since he was a young boy. While taking sailing lessons in Southern California, he bought his first sailboat and has been hooked on sailing ever since. He has owned several sailboats since then, and currently lives aboard his Tayana 37 ketch with his wife Karen. After being exposed to the cruising lifestyle by chartering sailboats in the Caribbean and Bahamas, they cut the dock lines and enjoyed two years cruising on their own boat in Mexico and Southern California. Shawn is excited to return to YF/WS to help clients find their perfect boat. E-mail Shawn
Allison decided it was time to do something fun with her life after taking a break from her 15-year career in the wine business. She wanted something where she could interact with people on a daily basis and yet continue working with a product she had passion for. Yacht Sales seemed to be a natural fit, yet they came to Allison quite by accident. She had purchased a boat thru a yacht broker who not only insisted that she needed a job, but that she needed to come to work for him! After learning the ropes, Allison has become a permanent fixture in the world of yacht sales. She has enjoyed and sold both sailboats and powerboats in the San Francisco Bay area for the over 23 years as well as co-founding Golden Gate Yacht Sales. Her knowledge is vast and her network with other brokers and their yachts extends throughout the world as she has delivered boats to clients both here and abroad.
Her hobbies have included both racing and cruising. An active member of the Richmond Yacht Club, Allison also has participated in helping people prepare for the Pacific Cup race to Hawaii and gives of her time on race committee for RYC sponsored races.
Allison currently resides in Pt. Richmond with her husband, Jerry Keefe. They are the proud owners of Sabre 426 named Kingfisher which they have cruised up into Canada as well as down to Mexico.
She has demonstrated her expertise of matching buyers and sellers over and over again with her many return clients. Her goal is to have buyers end up with the perfect boat and sellers end up with the perfect sale, the win-win situation.
Bill started FastIsFun. When everyone was designing slower boats under the IOR, Bill was one of the first ones to break out and present another (faster) way. In 1977 his legendary yacht Merlin took 22 hours off the Transpac Course Record and neither he nor the competitors have looked back. For 20 years he was president of Bill Lee Yachts, Inc. and his Santa Cruz 27s, 33, 40s, 50s and 70s blazed a trail. Form follows function and there were 14 of Bill's boats in the 2009 Transpac. After retiring for the boat design and building business, Bill spent 14 years as president of Wizard Yachts Ltd, a brokerage and consulting firm. He was instrumental in forming the California Sled class, the Transpac 52 class, the STP 65 class and continues to get people out sailing both race and cruise. Bill will remain in Santa Cruz but in this universal communication era, he will bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to Yachtfinders. E-mail Bill
The ultimate place to be is sailing. It doesn’t matter if it’s on a cruise or in a race. Maybe that’s why Dan has logged a few Vic-Mauiraces (9), a couple of Transpacs, a Mexican Race, an SORC, some Pacific Northwest Swiftsures and a lot of Wednesday night and week end races. Cruised to some interesting places such as Palmyra, Fanning, Christmas, Tahiti, Fiji, New Caledonia and New Zealand. Started a sailboat charter business in Lahaina (Scotch Mist Charters), served as Commodore and other offices at Lahaina Yacht Club and was for many years on the Victoria-Maui Race committee. Has worked 23 years selling sailboats in Seattle WA, Santa Cruz CA and Olympia WA. Had a Coast Guard License for 30 years. Is a firm believer in what Nat Herreshoff said, “It takes 30 minutes to learn how to sail and 30 years to figure out how to make the boat go faster.” If you love sailing too, Dan would like to help.
